GUMP HARVESTER/THRESHER COLLECTION
INTRODUCTION
The Gump Harvester/Thresher Collection was accessioned into the Flesh Public Library Archives in August, 2000. It was found in the collection, donor unknown. It consists of seven folders in one box. The patent for this invention dates from 1897. There are no known restrictions on the use of this collection.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Gump Harvester/Thresher Collection consists of two Series:
SERIES I: Descriptive Materials
SERIES II: Engineer’s drawings of the machine (6)
HISTORY
Alexander Gump was born in 1850 and resided primarily near Fletcher, Ohio. He patented a combined harvester/thresher in 1897, and a model was built and put to use successfully by 1902. The machine was never produced commercially, however.
