History

Thoma and Sons Jewelers was founded in 1838 by Augustine Thoma.  The business remained in the family and was passed to succeeding generations of sons from August to Albin then to Albin Jr., Leo and Joseph A. Thoma.  Joseph A. Thoma left the business to Joseph A. Jr. and his daughters Eleanore and Antoinette upon his death in 1970.  Several months later Eleanore and Antoinette bought Joseph A. Thoma Jr.’s interest in the business and took total control of Thoma and Sons Jewelers.  Joe Jr. then established his own branch of the business as Joe Thoma and Sons Jewelers in 1970; this business still remains in the hands of the Joe Thoma family.  On August 8, 1986 Eleanore and Antoinette Thoma sold Thoma and Sons Jewelers to Doug Stilwell who continued the business until 2011 when the business was closed.
