BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA – ERVING E. KASTNER, PIQUA TROOP 7 COLLECTION
INTRODUCTION
The Boy Scouts Of America – Erving E. Kastner, Piqua Troop 7 Collection was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections in June 2012 as a donation from Mr. Craig Mullenbrock. The collection fills two Hollinger boxes containing a total of fifty-three files. The collection also contains artifacts such as uniforms and uniform parts which are cataloged in the Library Artifacts Collections. Many of the materials in this collection are copyrighted by the Boy Scouts of America and thus their for profit use is restricted by the copyright laws of the United States. There are no restrictions on the use of these materials for research purposes.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
Boy Scouts Of America – Erving E. Kastner, Piqua Troop 7 Collection is divided into the following four series:
SERIES I: Troop 7, Greene Street United Methodist Church, Photographs, Newspaper Clippings and other materials – Box 1, Files 1-15
SERIES II: Erving Kastner’s Training Materials to become an adult Boy Scout Leader – Box 1, Files 16-18

9 Two 6 ¼” vinyl circles with “Troop 7, Piqua, O.” and the Boy Scout insignia printed on them.
10 Letters concerning the activities of Troop 7 to and from Erving “Erv” Kastner, the Scoutmaster of Troop 7. The twelve letters are dated from 18 April, 1963 to 25 August 1966.
11 Award certificate for completion of the Training Recognition Plan for the Scouter’s Key. The certificate issued by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America and dated December 20, 1965.
12 Speech/Presentation entitled “I Shall Not Want.” From internal evidence itis reasonable to assume that the speech was written by Erving Kastner or his son, Howard.
13 Boy Scouts of America Troop Charter Granted to the Greene Street Methodist Church Troop 7, March 31, 1967, Donald E. Mumma, Institutional Representative, Don M. Smith, Committee Chairman and Erving E. Kastner, Scoutmaster.
