Warren Lodge No. 24 Free & Accepted Masons Collection
Introduction
The Warren Lodge No. 24, Free & Accepted Masons Collection was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections as the result of a donation by members of the Lodge. In October 2021 the Warren Lodge ceased to exist after 184 years of history and was merged into the F. & A. M. Lodge in Sidney. Members of the Warren Lodge donated these records in order to preserve the history and memory of Warren Lodge #24. The collection includes meeting minutes from 1840 to 1984, by-laws booklets and some financial records containing many names of members, their addresses, birth dates and in many instances their middle names. There is no mention in this collection of the rituals or procedures which the masonic lodge would deem secret. The collection is intended to tell the history of the Piqua Warren Lodge #24 and associated groups such as the Piqua Chapter #31, Royal Arch Masons and the Piqua Ward Lodge #281, Free & Accepted Masons, which existed from 1856 to 1876.
The records are housed in 16 Hollinger boxes containing 174 files. They are available to our patrons for their genealogical and historical research. There are no known restrictions on the use of these files.
