COOPER, KLANKE, LINES, WINKLER
POST CARD MESSAGE COLLECTION
INTRODUCTION
The Cooper, Klanke, Lines, Winkler Post Card Message Collection was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections on January 17, 2017 as the result of a donation by Mrs. Barbara Cooper. The collection is housed in a three-ring binder holding fifty-two pages. The collection consists of 169 post cards and photographs, 9 post card folios and four letters. A letter written on March 30, 1913 to Mr. & Mrs. Geo. W. Lines, St. Petersburg, Florida, by their son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Edna Lines, 932 Broadway, Piqua, describes in detail the Great Miami River Flood of 1913. The letter is three typewritten pages long. There is a second letter written from Dries, Germany on March 6, 1919 by Private Ernest F. Johns to Cory H. Cooper in Piqua. The letter is handwritten on YMCA lined stationery and describes Pvt. Johns’ post war experiences in Germany. The post cards generally are from vacations writing back to family. The largest group of cards are from the 1913 flood and most were collected and not mailed.
The rights to the material in this collection has been deeded over to the Piqua Public Library and is now the owner of record. There are no known restrictions on the use of the material in this collection. The collection was processed in August 2017 by Gary D. Meek
