Introduction

The Samuel Knoop Statler Accounting Records Collection for Orr & Statler Plaza Hotel 1891-1914 was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections on June 16, 2017 as a donation from Mrs. Suzanne Statler Shoemaker, granddaughter of Samuel Knoop Statler.  The donation consisted of a check register dated 1897-1904, a red three ring binder containing plastic sleeves holding the financial records and a white three ring binder containing brochures and newspaper clippings concerning the hotel from  its original opening in 1891 through the 2008 renovation and opening.  The check register and financial records are housed in a single Hollinger box containing seventy (70) files.  These records are found in MS-259.  The white binder has been cataloged and is on permanent display in the Local History Room of the Piqua Public Library along with other Hotel scrapbooks.

The documents in the two collections have been deeded over to the Piqua Public Library.  All rights to the documents have been transferred to the Piqua Public Library and there are no known restrictions on the use of these documents by our patrons.
