BUCHANAN - EIDEMILLER PHOTOGRAPH COLLECTION
INTRODUCTION
The Sharon Eidemiller Borouchoff : Buchanan-Eidemiller Photograph Collection was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections in August 2013 as the result of a donation by Ms. Sharon Eidemiller Borouchoff and Edward Eidemiller. The collection consists primarily of photographs of individuals who trace their ancestry either by blood or marriage to Col. George Buchanan of the Ohio Volunteers in the War of 1812. The collection is housed in a single Gaylord 1215 box containing 108 files. Ownership of these documents has been transferred to the Piqua Public Library and there is no restriction on the use of these materials by genealogists or researchers.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Buchanan – Eidemiller Photograph Collection is divided into the following four series and sub-series:

[2] 2 ¼” x 3 ¼” photograph of a soldier sitting on the bank of a wide river – printed on the back is the following: “Hear (sp.) I am on post number five along the Rio Grand (sp.) on duty watching that no smugglers go across the river.” The photo can be dated c. 1916.
[3] 2 ¼” x 3 ¼” photograph of seven soldiers with picks and shovels on a work detail at an encampment with tents in the background – printed on the back is the following: “Does this look like we are soldiers. Here is what we have to work with so you see we are the Ohio Improvement company. I took the picture the reason you don’t see me.” The photo can be dated c. 1916.

On the back of the photo is printed: “Uncle Aubrey home in Dayton.” This is probably the Aubrey Eidemiller family and relatives. The photo was probably taken in the 1930’s.

Will write you a letter soon. You write Ola & tell me if you get this.” The post mark is June 12, 1912. Cannot tell from the post mark the origin of the card.

The card is written from New Madison, OH on October 11, 1914 – written on the card is the following: “Dear Lester, How are you, we are all well.
