The Barnhart, Landis, Miller, Teach Collection
Introduction
The Barnhart, Landis, Miller, Teach Collection was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections on 15 March 2010 as a donation from Ms. Barbara Treon and Ms. Rhonda Heffner. The collection consists of photographs and documents connected to these four inter-related families. The collection is housed in two Hollinger boxes holding a total of fifty-five files. Added to the collection by the archivist but not a part of the collection are four files of census data and other genealogical materials to make the family connections more understandable.
The literary copyright has been transferred to the Piqua Public Library and there are no know restrictions on the use of these materials.
Scope and Content
The Barnhart, Landis, Miller, Teach Collection is housed in two Hollinger Boxes with fifty-five files. It is divided into seven series. Series VII contains genealogical materials (census records, obituaries, etc.) which are not part of the collection but are included to make the relations between the families more understandable.

1 Scrapbook compiled by Bette Barnhart Miller a student at Piqua High School. The Scrapbook covers the years 1931-1936. The scrapbook contains articles about Piqua High Schools, programs from the YWCA and programs and bulletins from the Congregational Christian Church of Piqua, Ohio.
2 Barnhart family photo album c. 1910. The photos in the album are not identified. The album contains forty-eight photographs.
3 Post card greeting cards addressed to Mrs. S. S. Barnhart, Mrs. Sam Barnhart and Mrs. Mattie Barnhart – all appear to be the same person. Postmarks on the cards are 1910-1914. There are ten cards.

May died in 1920 and Tristram was apparently reared by his grandparents Martin and Laura Landis. Tristram died in 1931 (approx. age 14 years) and is buried in Highland Cemetery, Covington, Ohio.] NOTE: Because of the circumstances of May Landis DeVault’s early death and that Tristram was reared by the Martin Landis family and Tristram’s early death, it is very possible and in fact very likely that Tristram Landis and Tristram A. DeVault are the same person.

28 Account Book – the following is written on the front flyleaf: “The Property of John T. Hopkinson, Covington Ave., Piqua, Ohio”. The book contains some expenses for gifts and major purchases from 1943-1946 on the back of the flyleaf. There is an account for earnings from Favorite Stove and Range Company from 1905-1923. The book also contains an account of his stroke in September 1923 and his death in 1924 along with funeral records and expenses. There is an extensive list of births, marriages and deaths involving a large number and variety of names.
