Bradford Glass Plate Negative Collection
Introduction
The Bradford Glass Plate Negative Collection was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections in July 2009 as a donation from the Dayton History Museum. The Dayton History Museum received the collection from the family of Elmer Miller (11 March 1888- 31 October 1979). The collection consists of thirty-four glass plate negatives. The negatives have been scanned and a positive print has been produced which is included in the folder with each negative. The tops of the negative boxes are also included at the end of the collection.
The collection is housed in one Hollinger box containing 35 files. The copyright has been deeded to the library and there are no restrictions on the use of these photographs. The photographs can be viewed in the “My Pictures MS-194” folder on the Local History administrative computers.
Scope and Content
The Bradford Glass Plate Negative Collection is divided into five series. They are as follows:
SERIES I: BRADFORD RAIL YARD AND LOCOMOTIVES – 5x7 glass plate negatives – c. 1900. A positive print is included with each negative. Series I is found in Box 1 Files 1-6.
SERIES II: IDENTIFIED LOCATIONS – 4x5 glass plate negatives – c. 1900. A positive print is included with each negative. Series II is found in Box 1 Files 7-9.
SERIES III: PHOTOGRAPHS OF PEOPLE – c. 1900 – the individuals are not identified. 4x5 glass plate negatives. A positive print is included with each negative. Series III is found in Box 1 Files 10-24.
SERIES IV: PHOTOGRAPHS OF SCENERY, locations are not determined – c. 1900. 4x5 glass plate negatives. A positive print is included with each negative. Series IV is found in Box 1 Files 25-31.
SERIES V: PHOTOGRAPHS OF BUILDINGS AND MISCELLANEOUS. 4X5 photographs – c. 1900. A positive print is included with each negative. Series V is found in Box 1 Files 32-35.

NOTE: Files 10 and 11 were probably staged shots since there is no horse hitched to the carriage.
