JACQUELINE LANGE

ANTIQUE COOK BOOK COLLECTION

INTRODUCTION

The Jacqueline Lange Antique Cook Book Collection was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections in April 2009.  The collection consisted of ninety-two cook books printed between 1829 and 1938.  The books were collected over a period of many years by Miss Jacqueline Lange, a retired elementary school teacher.  Miss Lange taught for many years in the Piqua City School District primarily at Spring Street Elementary School.

Inside the books were found numerous clippings of recipes from magazines and newspapers, hand written recipes and brochures with recipes from various food processing companies.  These have been removed from the books and are housed in separate files.  The total collection is housed on shelves in the archives of the library.  Eighty of the books are shelved individually and the remaining twelve books and the loose materials are housed in two Hollinger boxes.  There are no known restrictions on the use of these materials.
