JACQUELINE LANGE, XI PHI CHAPTER, BETA SIGMA PHI SORORITY SCRAPBOOK COLLECTION
INTRODUCTION
The Jacqueline Lange, Xi Phi Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Scrapbook Collection was accessioned into the Piqua Public Library Archives and Special Collections in February 2009. The collection is housed in one Hollinger box containing forty-nine files. The literary copyright has been deeded to the public and there are no restrictions on the use of these materials.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Jacqueline Lange, Xi Phi Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Scrapbook Collection is cataloged in a single series consisting of fifty files representing the fifty pages of the scrapbook. The files are housed in a single Gaylord 1215 box.
HISTORY
Beta Sigma Phi is a social, cultural and service organization for women. It is not connected with any school or college is non-political and non-secterian. The organization was founded in 1931 and in 1976 (at the time of this collection) there were 12,000 chapters in 24 countries. Locally there are three chapters in the Piqua Area. They are the Beta Gama, Xi Phi and Lambda chapters. The bulk of this scrapbook collection is concerned with the Xi Phi chapter.
The Xi Phi meets every first and third Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. from September through May/June with a picnic in July.
