INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY
William Henry Harrison Faulkner was born in Ohio, possibly Union County, c. 1840. In approximately 1860 he married Anna Harrington and they had one daughter, Minerva Alice born in 1862. They may have had a son, Wilbur, born in 1862 but this is uncertain. They may also have had a son, Harry or Harry was William’s baby brother, born not later than 1863. (Harry’s relationship is uncertain since William’s obituary lists Harry as his brother while the obituary of his second wife Minerva lists Harry as her son.) The marriage of William and Anna ended prior to 1872, probably by her death. The daughter, Minerva Alice married John Wheatley in 1880. The children from this marriage were Bertha (married Leonard Cruickshank), Blanche (married Albert Stone), Martha (married Herbert Clark), Genevieve (married Ernest Boispert), Jessie (married ___ Tobias, and later married C.A. Hiser), Charles, and William. Two children, Jennie and John, died several months apart in 1901.
In 1872 William H.H. Faulkner Married Rhoda Miller (born 1852 and died 1923). This marriage produced four daughters: Geno Rosa (married Kenneth Goens), Elizabeth (married ___ Bangs), Vera (married George H. Kothman), and Naomi (married John Harris in 1908 and then later married Millard Floyd in 1934).
The photographs in this collection were donated to the Flesh Public Library Archives and Special Collections by the descendents of William H. H. Faulkner. The collection consists of 111 photographs generally concentrated in the years 1880-1925. Of these 111 photographs, 67 are identified. The remaining photos are yet to be identified. The collection also contains a file of miscellaneous items such as birthday cards, advertising, a legal notice, the Gospel of St. Luke, and some notes on the various family branches. There is a last file consisting the census data, notes, and obituaries which were not part of the collection but were used by the compiler to produce this document and were added at the end of the collection to provide further reference sources.
The collection is housed in two Hollinger boxes and is composed of 40 files. There is no known restriction on the use of these materials.
