AEROVENT COLLECTION
INTRODUCTION
The Aerovent Collection was processed into the Flesh Public Library’s Archives in March 2003. The donor is not identified, the materials were all found in the museum collection. It consists of folders in two boxes. The bulk of the materials date from the late 1950’s to early 1960’s. There are no known restrictions on the use of this collection.
HISTORY
Piqua Electronic manufacturing, a small motor firm, began making Aerovent Fans in 1926. By 1932, Aerovent Fan split off to form its own company under the management of Niels Lungard and Martin Bauer. In the mid 1930’s prominent fan engineer William A. Rowe designed the Macheta Airfoil fan, which contributed to Aerovent’s growth and reputation in the field. Aerovent manufactured air make up equipment, agricultural dryer fans and ventilation equipment. Over one hundred sales representatives marked Aerovent products throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America and Europe.
Aerovent was a large employer in Piqua until 1993 when the plant was sold to TCF Aerovent, Inc., an unrelated company, and the shut down.
