ZION REFORMED CHURCH COLLECTION
INTRODUCTION
The Zion Reformed Church Collection was accessioned into the Flesh Public Library Archives and Special Collections in August, 2000. The donor is unknown. It consists of ten folders in one box. The bulk of the material dates from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. There are no known restrictions on the use of this collection.
SCOPE AND CONTENT
The Zion Reformed Church Collection is divided into three series:
SERIES I: Publications
SERIES II: Photographs
SERIES III: Otte personal material (a pastor of the church)
HISTORY
The first Zion (German) Reformed Church in Piqua organized in 1873. English services were introduced in 1897, and became standard in 1915.
The church located at the corner of Wayne and Miami Streets burned in 1921, and by 1925, the church was rebuilt at Wayne and Miami. It was then known as the First United Church of Christ, but has been subsequently consolidated.
