Louise Taylor (1900-1996) – Taylor was active in her church and in the activities of the Piqua
chapter of the N.A.A.C.P. She organized her children into the Taylor Tots to sing at local and area
church and social events. As an advisor of the N.A.A.C.P. youth group in the early 1940’s, she
helped promote the Whispering Echoes (aka Hwisperian Echoes) which became a regional singing
sensation. In 1944, she helped begin the process of breaking down racial barriers by helping to
organize the city’s first African-American Girl Scout Troop. She was married to Darrell Taylor.
