1996 HALL OF FAME WINNER John Scott Garbry (1902 – 1990) Garbry was born on a farm in Springcreek Township, beginning his life-long interest in agricultural management and environmental conservation. He was honored for these activities by the State of Ohio in 1963 and inducted into the Ohio Conservation Hall of Fame in 1986. Garbry’s promotion of historical preservation was highlighted by his service to the Piqua Historical Museum and the creation of the Garbry Museum. His philanthropic endeavors included the donation of Garbry Big Woods to the Miami County Park District and the donation of the site of the Willowbrook Land Laboratory to the JVS.
