SERIES I: Constitutions
BOX 1
File 1 Proposed Constitution and By Laws written c. 1975. This proposal anticipates the
merger of the Congregational Christian Church, 421 Broadway, and the First United Church of Christ, 232 S. Wayne Street. The merger was not actually completed until c. 1998.
2 Constitution dated October 16, 1983 and amended on March 10, 1991. The merger
was evidently still not complete. This is attested to in Article I – Name, which states, “The name of this church shall be THE CONGREGATIONAL CHRISTIAN UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST OF PIQUA (The Christian Church of Piqua, Ohio).” The all caps name is in the constitution, the bold is mine for emphasis.
3 Draft Constitution To Be Effective July 1, 2015. On Easter Sunday, 2015, the
Congregational Christian United Church of Christ held its last weekly congregational service. An auction of materials was held and the church records were transferred to the Piqua Public Archives and Special Collections. The building was placed with a realtor for sale but because of its size, condition and price there were no reasonable offers. At this point the few remaining members decided to turn control of the building over to a new entity called FUSION MINISTRIES. The following is taken from the Fusion Ministries web site (December 11, 2020): "We are an interfaith community committed to building relationships, both with individuals and organizations. Then, through these relationships, discover and develop God's gifts and talents. We will use these gifts and talents to enhance the lives of individuals, families, and the community. Why Are We Here? To build a spiritual community and share the love of God by nurturing the heart, mind and body; through the development of relationships with each other and Jesus Christ." This constitution states that the Congregational Christian United Church of Christ, Piqua, Ohio will be two services of worship per year and a business meeting at one of the services. Special congregational meetings may be called by the Board of Trustees or any ten members of the congregation.
