Advertising, sale, broadsheet – “Broker’s Sale” – Chickering’s, 204 N. Main St., Piqua, Ohio. Chickering Bros. is first listed in the 1923 city directory as a millinery shop. In 1926 it is listed as a clothing store. In both directories Louis Chichering is listed as primary owner/manager. This broadsheet states that the store is in the hands of a merchandist broker who is cutting prices drastically in order to liquidate the stock and many of the prices are listed. This type of action would only be done when a store is closing. Chickering Bros. is not listed in the 1928 directory, nor is the Chickering family. Thus the date on this broadsheet is c. 1927. . This paper is located in Drawer 21 of the Local History Map Case. |
